Well, I do have some custom brushes that help me render the fur more quickly than painting one strand at a time, but it still takes a while to figure out the flow and direction of how I want it to go, and seeing that you metioned being convinced you can see it "move with the breeze", you're not necessarily imagining things as the effect of wind on the hair is something I do consider when rendering one of these Big Guys up close like this. I'm glad you mentioned his "character" as I'm really starting to try to blur the line between the ape-human look to achieve that.
